# Webasyst Photos app: forged requests can delete photos and change access

The Photos app in Webasyst Framework through 4.4.0 does not enable the framework's opt-in CSRF check, so it accepts POST requests forged from other sites. A lured logged-in user can have an attacker-chosen page delete photos or change album access rights.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:webasyst-framework affected <= 4.4.0 fixed ?

## How to check

- Open wa-apps/photos/lib/config/app.php and look for 'csrf' => true; if absent (or false), the Photos app is exposed.
- Framework version: check wa-config/ or the Webasyst Installer/About page; 4.4.0 or earlier is in the affected range per NVD.
- Confirm Photos is installed: ls wa-apps/photos

## Fix

No fixed version published in sources as of 2026-10-26 (unknown). Interim: add 'csrf' => true to wa-apps/photos/lib/config/app.php (per Webasyst CSRF docs; templates/AJAX must send the _csrf token, so test the Photos UI after the change). Watch the Webasyst updates page and https://github.com/webasyst/webasyst-framework for a fix.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T14:33:16+00:00 analyst — Only NVD (VulnCheck CNA) found: affects Webasyst Framework through 4.4.0, Photos app lacks opt-in CSRF. No vendor advisory, fix version, PoC or exploitation found; Photos changelog (latest 2.3.0.121, Feb 2026) has no CSRF entry. Vendor CSRF doc confirms the opt-in is 'csrf' => true in wa-apps/APP_ID/lib/config/app.php. Nothing marked verified.

## From the sources

Webasyst Framework through 4.4.0 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the Photos app that allows remote attackers to perform backend actions because the app does not enable the framework's opt-in CSRF check. Attackers can lure logged-in Photos users to a malicious page that submits forged POST requests to photo/delete, album/save, photo/manageAccessSave or photo/saveField, deleting photos and changing access rights.
