# Snipe-IT: Google SSO login skips the deactivated-user check

Snipe-IT versions before 8.6.3 log in any user whose username matches a Google account email without checking the activated flag. A deactivated user with a live Google identity can sign in again and regain their previous permissions, including admin.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run the Snipe-IT version check (for example `php artisan --version` or the About page) and confirm whether it is below `8.6.3`
- Check whether Google SSO is enabled in the Snipe-IT login settings
- Look for deactivated accounts whose username is an email address and that still have a linked Google identity

## Fix

- Upgrade Snipe-IT to `8.6.3` or later
- Until upgraded, disable Google SSO login or deactivate the affected Google identities

## Timeline

- 2026-10-25T14:41:23+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-116199

## From the sources

Snipe-IT before 8.6.3 contains an authentication bypass in GoogleAuthController::handleGoogleCallback, which logs in the user whose username matches the Google account email without enforcing the activated flag. Deactivated users with email-shaped usernames and still-live Google identities can sign in via Google SSO and regain sessions at their original permission level, including admin.
