# Alfresco Activiti: JUEL script engine lets remote input inject code

Alfresco Activiti up to 7.21.0-rc.692 has a flaw in the JuelScriptEngine.eval function that lets an attacker manipulate input into injected code. The sources say the attack can be started remotely, and the vendor did not respond to early disclosure.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the deployed Activiti version against `7.21.0-rc.692`; versions up to and including that build are listed as affected in the sources.
- Search the codebase or deployment for `JuelScriptEngine` to see whether the vulnerable script engine is in use.

## Timeline

## From the sources

A vulnerability was found in Alfresco Activiti up to 7.21.0-rc.692. Affected by this issue is the function JuelScriptEngine.eval of the file JuelScriptEngine.java. Performing a manipulation results in code injection. The attack can be initiated remotely. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
