# EmployeeRecruitmentSystem: SQL injection in registration form lets remote users query the database

The registerform2.php file in krupalshah's EmployeeRecruitmentSystem passes university, institute, branch, degree, status, cpi, semester and experience fields into a SQL query without sanitizing them. A remote attacker can read or change database contents, and a public exploit has been published.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the repository is deployed anywhere by looking for `source/registerform2.php` in the web root
- Confirm the deployed commit against `922ff6d208278282e7c8e36d70d9ae356adec9fe`; the sources say versions are not tracked
- unknown for anything beyond the file path

## Fix

- No vendor fix is available; the maintainer did not respond and the project is no longer supported
- Remove the public deployment or put the registration form behind authentication
- Replace the mysql_query calls with parameterized queries before exposing the form again

## Timeline

- 2026-10-25T09:39:57+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-116049

## From the sources

A flaw has been found in krupalshah EmployeeRecruitmentSystem up to 922ff6d208278282e7c8e36d70d9ae356adec9fe. Affected by this issue is the function mysql_query of the file /source/registerform2.php of the component Registration Wizard. Executing a manipulation of the argument university/institute/branch/degree/status/cpi/semester/experience can lead to sql injection. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been published and may be used. This product takes the approach of rolling releases to provide continious delivery. Therefore, version details for affected and updated releases are not available. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
