# DaybydayCRM: any logged-in user can reassign projects they should not

DaybydayCRM through 2.2.1 has a missing authorization check in the project assignment controller. Any authenticated employee can send a request to reassign a project to another user, bypassing the permission that should gate that action.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed DaybydayCRM version; versions through `2.2.1` are affected per the sources
- Review whether `ProjectsController::updateAssign()` checks the `can-assign-new-user-to-project` permission

## Timeline

- 2026-10-24T12:47:58+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-116008

## From the sources

DaybydayCRM through 2.2.1 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in ProjectsController::updateAssign() that allows any authenticated user to reassign projects without the can-assign-new-user-to-project permission. Low-privileged employees can send PATCH or POST requests to /projects/updateassign/{external_id} with a chosen user_assigned_id to redirect project ownership and notifications.
