# Unitree Go2 robot: remote OS command injection via set_volume chat module

Unitree Go2 firmware up to 1.1.11.4 passes an untrusted Value argument from the chat_go set_volume function in gpt_thread.py into an operating system command. A remote attacker can run arbitrary commands on the robot.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Go2 firmware or chat_go component version against `1.1.11.4`; anything at or below that version is in scope
- Confirm whether the chat_go component is installed and reachable on the robot's network

## Fix

- Upgrade the Go2 chat_go component to `1.1.11.5` or later, per the sources
- Contact Unitree for the update path if the robot cannot be upgraded directly

## Timeline

## From the sources

A security vulnerability has been detected in Unitree Robotics Unitree Go2 up to 1.1.11.4. The impacted element is the function set_volume of the file gpt_thread.py of the component chat_go. Such manipulation of the argument Value leads to os command injection. The attack can be launched remotely. Upgrading to version 1.1.11.5 is sufficient to resolve this issue. You should upgrade the affected component. The vendor confirmed early: "Submission 990502 corresponds to our internal ticket #474 (Go2 chat_go set_volume OS command injection, CWE-78)."
