# Opptrix 0.4.0: unknown /api/auth/setup flaw allows remote command injection

Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0 has a command injection flaw in the /api/auth/setup endpoint of its Schedule API, reachable remotely. A public exploit exists, so an attacker could likely run operating system commands on the server running the app.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether any deployment runs Travisun Opptrix, for example with `opptrix --version` or by looking for the project in your repositories
- Check whether the app exposes `/api/auth/setup` on a reachable network address
- unknown for any other check, the sources do not say

## Fix

- The project is deprecated and offline, and the maintainer no longer supports it, so the sources give no patched version: remove the deployment or take it off the network
- Rotate any credentials and secrets the host kept if the instance was reachable from the internet

## Timeline

## From the sources

A flaw has been found in Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0. This affects an unknown function of the file /api/auth/setup of the component Schedule API. This manipulation causes command injection. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been published and may be used. The project has been completely taken offline and deprecated. The project maintainer explains: "The mentioned security risk was a design flaw that manifested primarily in local environments during earlier stages of version development. We previously addressed and resolved this specific risk; however, because the project was restricted to a small learning scope and the main versions were intended to run exclusively on localhost, the security fix was only pushed directly to our GitHub repository before it went private." This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
