# Secret Server: PIN or biometric check skipped with FIDO2 devices

Secret Server versions earlier than 12.3.1 did not always validate the PIN or biometric check when a FIDO2-compliant device was used. An attacker who can reach the login flow may be able to get past that second factor.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Secret Server version against `12.3.1`
- Review whether FIDO2 devices are enabled for login in Secret Server authentication settings

## Fix

- Secret Server: move to `12.3.1` or later

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T20:25:37+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-115828

## From the sources

In Secret Server versions earlier than 12.3.1, Secret Server did not always validate the PIN or biometric check when using a FIDO2-compliant device
