# Oracle Java SE JSSE: unauthenticated network attacker gains full data access

A flaw in the JSSE component of Oracle Java SE, GraalVM for JDK and GraalVM Enterprise Edition lets an unauthenticated attacker over the network create, modify, delete or read data handled by the JDK. A public proof-of-concept scanner exists on GitHub.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `java -version` and compare against the affected releases: 8u511, 11.0.33.0.2, 17.0.21.0.2, 21.0.13.0.2, 25.0.5.0.2, 27.0.1.0.2.
- Check GraalVM builds with `native-image --version` or the GraalVM release string against 17.0.21.0.2, 21.0.13.0.2 and 21.3.20.0.2.
- Find bundled JDKs in application images and servers, not only the system JDK.

## Fix

- Move Oracle Java SE to the Oracle Critical Patch Update release that fixes this CVE; the sources do not name the fixed build.
- Move GraalVM for JDK or GraalVM Enterprise to the patched release from Oracle's advisory.
- Rebuild and redeploy container images that embed a JDK.
