# Arista VeloCloud Orchestrator: SQL injection lets remote attacker reach internal functions

The on-prem Arista VeloCloud Orchestrator contains a SQL injection flaw that a remote attacker can use to reach privileged internal functionality on the VCO host. Successful exploitation can compromise confidentiality, integrity and availability of the orchestrator and the data it manages, and CISA lists it as actively exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:arista velocloud orchestrator affected >= 5.2.0, < 5.2.3.18 fixed 5.2.3.18
- vendor:arista velocloud orchestrator affected >= 6.1.0, < 6.1.3.10 fixed 6.1.3.10
- vendor:arista velocloud orchestrator affected >= 6.4.0, < 6.4.2.12 fixed 6.4.2.12
- vendor:Arista VeloCloud Orchestrator affected ? fixed ?

## How to check

Check the installed VCO version against the affected ranges (5.2.0 to before 5.2.3.18, 6.1.0 to before 6.1.3.10, 6.4.0 to before 6.4.2.12).

## Fix

Upgrade to the fixed release for your branch: 5.2.3.18, 6.1.3.10 or 6.4.2.12. CISA says to follow BOD 26-04 guidance or discontinue use if mitigations are unavailable.

## From the sources

Arista VeloCloud Orchestrator on-prem contains a SQL injection vulnerability that may allow a remote attacker to access privileged internal functionality and impact the VCO host. Successful exploitation may compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the orchestrator and data managed by the orchestrator.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations in accordance with vendor instructions, ensuring compliance with CISA’s BOD 26-04 Prioritizing Security Updates Based on Risk (see URL in Notes) guidance and CISA’s “Forensics Triage Requirements” (see URL in Notes). Follow applicable BOD 26-04 guidance for cloud services or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable. Stakeholders are responsible for evaluating each asset's internet exposure and ensuring adherence to BOD 26-04 patching guidelines.
