# WordPress security plugin lets non-super admins read site secret keys

The Security Plugin, Firewall & Malware Scanner WordPress plugin before 2.191 lets a non-super-admin administrator, including a subsite administrator on multisite, open its File System Watcher file viewer. That viewer can read sensitive tracked files such as wp-config.php, exposing authentication keys, salts and, on a standard install, database credentials.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed plugin version in the WordPress admin Plugins screen or in the plugin's main file header; unknown if the sources do not give a file path.
- Confirm whether the plugin's File System Watcher feature is in use on the site.
- On multisite, check which subsite administrators have accounts.

## Fix

- Update the plugin to version `2.191` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T06:28:39+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-114444

## From the sources

The Security Plugin, Firewall & Malware Scanner with Auto Removal WordPress plugin before 2.191 does not restrict its File System Watcher file viewer to Super Admins or to the files it legitimately tracks, allowing a non-super-admin administrator, including a subsite administrator on WordPress multisite, to read the contents of sensitive tracked files such as the main configuration file and disclose the site's authentication keys, salts and, on a standard install, database credentials.
