# ZenTao PMS: authorization bypass lets logged-in users reach admin AJAX methods

ZenTao PMS before 22.3 skips group-based access checks for any method whose name contains 'ajax' in commonModel::isOpenMethod(). A logged-in user with minimal privileges can call those methods to read data, obtain database credentials, trigger CI jobs and alter database tables.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed ZenTao version in the admin console or the version file under the install directory; versions below `22.3` are affected.
- Review user accounts with low privileges that can log in, since they are the ones who can reach the bypass.

## Fix

- Upgrade ZenTao PMS to `22.3` or later.
- Until upgraded, restrict who can log in to the instance and rotate database credentials if exposure is suspected.

## From the sources

ZenTao PMS before 22.3 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in commonModel::isOpenMethod() that lets logged-in users skip group-based ACL checks for any method containing 'ajax'. Minimal-privilege users can call methods like task.ajaxGetByID, system.ajaxDBAuthUrl and admin.ajaxChangeTableEngine to read data, obtain database credentials, trigger CI jobs and alter tables.
