# Chamilo LMS: unauthenticated users can change gradebook certificates for any course

Chamilo LMS 2.0.0 pre-releases from 2.0.0-alpha.1 before 2.0.0-RC.3 have a missing access check in GradebookController. An unauthenticated attacker can call the set_default_certificate endpoint with any course and document id to change certificate settings for that course.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chamilo version in the application's version file or admin dashboard and see whether it falls in 2.0.0-alpha.1 through 2.0.0-RC.2.
- Confirm whether the `set_default_certificate` route in GradebookController is reachable from the internet.

## Fix

- Upgrade Chamilo LMS to `2.0.0-RC.3` or later.
- Until upgraded, restrict access to the gradebook routes at the web server or proxy.

## From the sources

Chamilo LMS 2.0.0 pre-releases from 2.0.0-alpha.1 before 2.0.0-RC.3 contain a missing access control vulnerability in GradebookController that allows unauthenticated users to modify gradebook certificates. Attackers can request the set_default_certificate endpoint with any course id and document id to tamper with certificate configuration for any course.
