# wiki-go: path traversal in editor API lets remote users reach files

wiki-go, a Go wiki application from leomoon-studios, has a path traversal flaw in its editor save and source handlers in internal/handlers/editor.go. A remote attacker can manipulate file paths to read or write files outside the intended wiki directory.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed wiki-go version and see whether it is `1.9.1` or earlier
- Look for the `internal/handlers/editor.go` SaveHandler/SourceHandler code path in the deployed build
- Check whether the instance exposes the editor API to the internet

## Fix

- Upgrade wiki-go to `1.9.2` or later, which contains the patch `94f7e73ef8df7c58091d72d77a5e26e9fdad98b8`

## From the sources

A weakness has been identified in leomoon-studios wiki-go up to 1.9.1. Affected by this vulnerability is the function SaveHandler/SourceHandler of the file internal/handlers/editor.go of the component API. Executing a manipulation can lead to path traversal. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. Upgrading to version 1.9.2 addresses this issue. This patch is called 94f7e73ef8df7c58091d72d77a5e26e9fdad98b8. Upgrading the affected component is advised.
