# GeoDirectory WordPress plugin: password-protected listings readable without the password

The GeoDirectory WordPress plugin, before version 2.8.197, ignores post password protection when it renders a listing. An unauthenticated visitor can therefore read the content and custom fields of published listings that should be locked behind a password.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed GeoDirectory version in the WordPress plugins list or the plugin's main file header; versions before `2.8.197` are affected.
- Look for published listings protected by a post password and load them in a logged-out browser to see whether the content shows.

## Fix

- GeoDirectory: move to `2.8.197` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T06:53:13+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-114270

## From the sources

The GeoDirectory WordPress plugin before 2.8.197 does not honour post password protection when rendering a listing, allowing unauthenticated users to disclose the content and custom fields of published listings that are protected by a post password.
