# Insurance Management System: admin registration form allows improper authorization

A flaw in the Add New Admin form of an open-source Insurance Management System lets a remote user manipulate the submit, Admin_id and password fields to bypass authorization. An attacker could gain or create administrative access to the application, and a public exploit exists.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- github:Insurance-Management-System affected commits 91de5edda5baa109ad8e9baf03ce6a3ceda84183, 125362cc21dca20d74091a4913a5096bb58dd837 (rolling release; no fixed version) fixed ?

## How to check

- Check whether /Admin/includes/Admin-Register-inc.php exists in the deployment (path in repo: Insurance_Management_System/Admin/includes/).
- Check that the script has no session/role check before the INSERT into the Admin table.
- Look in the Admin table for admin accounts you did not create.
- Deployed commit 91de5edd... or 125362cc... (rolling release, no version numbers).

## Fix

No fix upstream as of 2026-10-25 (issue #4 open, project silent). Workaround: delete or block /Admin/includes/Admin-Register-inc.php at the web server, or add a session/admin-role check at the top of the script; review the Admin table for unknown accounts and reset admin passwords.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-24T13:15:54+00:00 epss https://api.first.org/data/v1/epss?cve=CVE-2026-114245
- 2026-10-25T03:24:54+00:00 analyst — Maintainer has not responded; GitHub issue #4 (opened Oct 7 2026) still open, no fix commit found. Reporter write-up (VulDB submit, via issue) shows Admin-Register-inc.php has no session/role check, so unauthenticated admin creation. Nothing marked verified (no vendor words).

## From the sources

A weakness has been identified in dhikshitha29 Insurance-Management-System 91de5edda5baa109ad8e9baf03ce6a3ceda84183/125362cc21dca20d74091a4913a5096bb58dd837. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file /Admin/includes/Admin-Register-inc.php of the component Add New Admin Form. Executing a manipulation of the argument submit/Admin_id/password can lead to improper authorization. The attack may be performed from remote. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. This product utilizes a rolling release system for continuous delivery, and as such, version information for affected or updated releases is not disclosed. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
