# SchedulePress: Contributor users can change any post's status and date

SchedulePress before 5.3.5 lets an authenticated Contributor change any post's status and publish date through the wpsp_el_editor_form AJAX action. An attacker can unpublish or reschedule administrator posts, or publish other users' pending or draft posts.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed SchedulePress plugin version in the WordPress admin Plugins screen or with `wp plugin get schedulepress --field=version`
- Confirm whether Contributor-role accounts exist with `wp user list --role=contributor`

## Fix

- Update the SchedulePress plugin to `5.3.5` or later
- Review recent post status and publish date changes on administrator and other users' posts

## From the sources

SchedulePress before 5.3.5 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows authenticated Contributor-level users to change any post's status and publish date via the wpsp_el_editor_form AJAX action. Attackers can reuse the wpsp-el-editor nonce from the Elementor modal to unpublish or reschedule administrator posts, or publish other users' pending or draft posts.
