# ArcadeDB: read-only users can alter edge type schema flags

ArcadeDB from 26.8.1 before 26.10.1 lets read-only users change edge type lightweight and unique schema flags without the UPDATE_SCHEMA permission. An attacker with read-only access can send a bare ALTER TYPE command over HTTP, gRPC or Bolt to persistently change how edge storage is declared.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed ArcadeDB version and whether it is in the range `26.8.1` to before `26.10.1`
- Review which accounts have read-only access on the ArcadeDB server, since those are the ones that can exploit this

## Fix

- Upgrade ArcadeDB to `26.10.1` or later
- Until upgraded, restrict read-only accounts on the HTTP, gRPC and Bolt APIs

## From the sources

ArcadeDB from 26.8.1 before 26.10.1 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows read-only users to modify edge type lightweight and unique schema flags without UPDATE_SCHEMA permission. Attackers can send a bare ALTER TYPE edgeType WITH lightweight = true command over the HTTP, gRPC, or Bolt command API to persistently alter edge storage declarations.
