# Apple iOS and macOS: buffer overflow lets an app crash the system or corrupt memory

A buffer overflow in Apple's operating systems lets a local app cause unexpected system termination or corrupt process memory. Apple fixed it in iOS 26.7.2, iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and later point releases.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version under Settings > General > About (iOS and iPadOS) or Apple menu > About This Mac (macOS).
- Compare it with the fixed versions listed in the sources: `26.7.2` on iOS, iPadOS and macOS Tahoe, `27.2` on the 27 line, `15.8.2` on macOS Sequoia.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`.
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`.
- Update tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to `27.2`.
