# Apple OS: logging flaw lets a malicious app bypass privacy preferences

Apple fixed a logging issue that did not redact data properly in several iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS and watchOS releases. A malicious application can bypass Privacy preferences, which means it can reach data the user chose to keep from it.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the OS version under Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS) or Apple menu > About This Mac (macOS), and compare with the fixed versions below.
- unknown for any other check; the sources do not say how to inspect the logging behaviour.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`.
- Update macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, and macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`.
- Update tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to `27.2`.

## Timeline
