# Media Library Assistant WordPress plugin: forged requests can delete attachments

The Media Library Assistant WordPress plugin before 3.42 checks its CSRF nonce on the Media Library bulk-action handler only when the nonce field is present. A forged request that leaves the field out can make a logged-in Author or higher user trash or delete media attachments.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed plugin version in the WordPress admin Plugins screen or with `wp plugin get media-library-assistant --field=version`
- Confirm the plugin is active with `wp plugin status media-library-assistant`

## Fix

- Update the Media Library Assistant plugin to `3.42` or later
- Until updated, limit Author-level and higher accounts to trusted users

## Timeline

- 2026-10-28T06:31:27+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-113485

## From the sources

The Media Library Assistant WordPress plugin before 3.42 does not consistently validate its CSRF nonce on the Media Library bulk-action handler, checking the nonce only when its field is present, so a forged request that omits the field can cause a logged-in user with the Author role or above to trash or delete attachments.
