# Chrome on Android: out-of-bounds read in CustomTabs leaks sandbox memory

A flaw in the CustomTabs component of Google Chrome on Android lets a crafted HTML page make the browser read memory outside a buffer. The sources say the read stays inside the sandbox, so an attacker gets some memory contents rather than code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:google chrome affected < 156.0.8078.47 fixed 156.0.8078.47

## How to check

- Open Chrome on Android and check the version under Settings > About Chrome; it should be `156.0.8078.47` or later.
- Check the installed version with `adb shell dumpsys package com.android.chrome | grep versionName` where a device is attached.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome on Android to `156.0.8078.47` or later through Google Play.

## Timeline
