# Google Chrome: V8 memory corruption lets a crafted page read sandbox memory

Google Chrome versions before 156.0.8078.47 have a memory corruption bug in the V8 JavaScript engine. A remote attacker who gets a user to open a crafted HTML page can potentially read memory inside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:google chrome affected < 156.0.8078.47 fixed 156.0.8078.47

## How to check

- Open Chrome and check the version under Settings > About Chrome, or run `google-chrome --version` on Linux, and confirm it is at least `156.0.8078.47`.
- Check managed fleets for the Chrome version reported by endpoint management tooling.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.47` or later.
- Restart the browser after the update so the new version is running.

## From the sources

Memory corruption in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.47 allowed a remote attacker to potentially read memory inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
