# Safari and Apple OSes: out-of-bounds read leaks process memory from web content

Apple's WebKit-based browser and operating systems read memory past the end of a buffer when processing crafted web content. An attacker who lures a user to a malicious page can read process memory, which may expose sensitive data.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Safari version under Safari > About Safari, and the OS version under Settings > General > About.
- Compare against the fixed versions: Safari `27.2`, iOS `26.7.2` / `27.2`, iPadOS `26.7.2` / `27.2`, macOS Golden Gate `27.2`, visionOS `27.2`.

## Fix

- Update Safari to `27.2` or later.
- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`, macOS Golden Gate and visionOS to `27.2`.

## Timeline

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in Safari 27.2, iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, visionOS 27.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may result in the disclosure of process memory.
