# Safari and Apple OS: use-after-free crash from malicious web content

A use-after-free memory bug in Safari and other Apple operating systems can be triggered by crafted web content. The sources say it leads to an unexpected process termination, which is a crash, not code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the device OS version in Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS) or `sw_vers` on macOS; unknown whether the sources list exact affected builds beyond the fixed version

## Fix

- Update Safari to `27.2` and iOS, iPadOS, macOS Golden Gate, tvOS and watchOS to `27.2` or later

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T21:20:29+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-112666

## From the sources

A use-after-free issue was addressed with improved memory management. This issue is fixed in Safari 27.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, tvOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to an unexpected process termination.
