# Safari and Apple OS: use-after-free lets crafted web content run code

A use-after-free memory bug in Safari and other Apple operating systems can be triggered by maliciously crafted web content. Successful exploitation may lead to arbitrary code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Safari affected < 27.2 fixed 27.2
- vendor:iOS and iPadOS affected < 26.7.2 (26.x), < 27.2 (27.x) fixed 26.7.2, 27.2
- vendor:macOS Golden Gate affected < 27.2 fixed 27.2
- vendor:visionOS affected < 27.2 fixed 27.2

## How to check

Settings > General > About (iOS/iPadOS/visionOS) or Apple menu > About This Mac: compare the version to the fixed list. In Safari, check Safari > About Safari. Affected: Safari before 27.2, iOS/iPadOS before 26.7.2 (26 branch) or 27.2, macOS Golden Gate before 27.2, visionOS before 27.2.

## Fix

- Update Safari to 27.2 or later, and iOS and iPadOS to 26.7.2 or 27.2 as listed in the advisory
- Update macOS Golden Gate and visionOS to 27.2

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T21:20:29+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-112651
- 2026-10-26T21:24:44+00:00 analyst — Apple's 26 Oct 2026 releases page confirms the 27.2 / 26.7.2 releases and dates. I could not find the per-release security-content page with the CVE entry, so the component and exact wording are unread and nothing is marked verified. No exploitation or PoC found; x-cli count is 0.

## From the sources

A use-after-free issue was addressed with improved memory management. This issue is fixed in Safari 27.2, iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, visionOS 27.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution.
