# Apple iOS and macOS: crafted font file leaks process memory

An out-of-bounds read in Apple's font processing lets a maliciously crafted font expose memory from the process that opened it. The sources do not state a full code execution path, only disclosure of process memory.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed OS version under Settings > General > About (iOS and iPadOS) or `sw_vers` on macOS
- Compare against the fixed builds: iOS 26.7.2, iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`
- Update tvOS and visionOS to `27.2`

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2. Processing a maliciously crafted font may result in the disclosure of process memory.
