# Apple iOS and macOS: crafted image causes memory corruption

An integer underflow in Apple's image processing lets a maliciously crafted image corrupt memory on an affected Apple device. The sources do not say whether this leads to code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the device version under Settings > General > About (iOS/iPadOS) or `sw_vers -productVersion` (macOS)
- Compare against the fixed builds: iOS and iPadOS 26.7.2 or 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`

## Timeline

## From the sources

An integer underflow was addressed with improved input validation. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. Processing a maliciously crafted image may result in memory corruption.
