# Apple iOS and macOS: crafted calendar invitation can corrupt memory

An out-of-bounds write in Apple's operating systems lets a maliciously crafted calendar invitation corrupt memory when processed. The sources do not say whether this leads to code execution or data theft.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the device OS version in Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS) or with `sw_vers` on macOS
- unknown for other checks: the sources do not say

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `27.2` or later
- Update macOS Golden Gate to `27.2` or later
- Update visionOS and watchOS to `27.2` or later

## Timeline

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2. Processing a maliciously crafted calendar invitation may lead to memory corruption.
