# Apple iOS and macOS: crafted PDF file corrupts memory, Apple fixes it

An out-of-bounds write in Apple's PDF handling lets a maliciously crafted PDF corrupt memory. Memory corruption of this kind can let an attacker run code on the device, though the sources do not say that here.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the OS version under Settings > General > About on iOS and iPadOS, or run `sw_vers -productVersion` on macOS
- Compare against the fixed versions listed in the fix section
- unknown for any other exposure check, as the sources do not say

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`
- Update macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2` and macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T21:20:28+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-112610

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. Processing a maliciously crafted PDF file may lead to memory corruption.
