# Safari and Apple OSes: use-after-free lets web content crash the process

A use-after-free memory bug in Apple's WebKit-based browser and operating systems can be triggered by maliciously crafted web content. The sources say it causes an unexpected process crash, and they do not describe code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open Safari and check the version under Safari > About Safari, or run `sw_vers` in Terminal on macOS to see the OS version
- On iOS or iPadOS, check Settings > General > About for the OS version

## Fix

- Update Safari to `27.2` or later
- Update iOS and iPadOS to `27.2` or later
- Update macOS to `27.2` (Golden Gate) or later
- Update tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to `27.2` or later

## Timeline

## From the sources

A use-after-free issue was addressed with improved memory management. This issue is fixed in Safari 27.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to an unexpected process crash.
