# Apple platforms: crafted image can leak process memory contents

A memory initialization flaw in Apple's image processing lets a maliciously crafted image cause disclosure of process memory. The fix is shipped in iOS 26.7.2, iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2 and other listed Apple releases.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the current OS version on each device (Settings > General > About on iOS and iPadOS, or `sw_vers` on macOS) and compare it to the fixed versions listed in the sources.
- unknown for any other check, since the sources do not describe a specific file or setting to inspect.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to 26.7.2 or 27.2, macOS Tahoe to 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia to 15.8.2, macOS Golden Gate to 27.2, and tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to 27.2.

## From the sources

A memory initialization issue was addressed with improved memory handling. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2. Processing a maliciously crafted image may result in disclosure of process memory.
