# Apple macOS: sandbox access flaw lets an app escape its sandbox

Apple fixed an access issue in macOS that let an app break out of its sandbox. The sandbox is meant to confine each app to its own resources, so escaping it gives the app reach into the rest of the system.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers` on each Mac and compare the ProductVersion to the fixed builds
- Check the macOS Golden Gate, Sequoia and Tahoe release notes for the exact build list

## Fix

- Update macOS to `27.2` on Golden Gate
- Update macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`

## Timeline

## From the sources

An access issue was addressed with additional sandbox restrictions. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. An app may be able to break out of its sandbox.
