# Apple: crafted 3D model file can corrupt memory on Apple devices

Processing a maliciously crafted 3D model can corrupt memory in Apple's operating systems. The sources do not say what an attacker gets beyond memory corruption, such as code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed OS version on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and visionOS devices against the fixed versions listed in the sources.
- unknown for any other check, as the sources do not say.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `27.2`.
- Update macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, and macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`.
- Update tvOS and visionOS to `27.2`.

## Timeline

## From the sources

The issue was addressed with improved memory handling. This issue is fixed in iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2. Processing a maliciously crafted 3D model may lead to memory corruption.
