# macOS: out-of-bounds read lets a network attacker crash processes or leak memory

An out-of-bounds read in a macOS component lets an attacker on the local network terminate a process or read its memory. Apple fixed it with improved bounds checking.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers -productVersion` and compare against the fixed builds listed below.
- unknown

## Fix

- Update macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T21:20:26+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-112481

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. An attacker on the local network may be able to cause unexpected process termination or disclose process memory.
