# Apple iOS and macOS: crafted 3D model can corrupt memory

An integer overflow in Apple's 3D model processing lets a maliciously crafted 3D model corrupt memory. Apple's advisory says memory corruption may result, but the sources do not state whether code execution is possible.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed OS version under Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS, visionOS) or `sw_vers -productVersion` on macOS
- Compare against the fixed versions listed in the sources

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`
- Update visionOS to `27.2`

## Timeline

## From the sources

An integer overflow was addressed with improved input validation. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, visionOS 27.2. Processing a maliciously crafted 3D model may lead to memory corruption.
