# macOS: out-of-bounds read lets a crafted file leak process memory

An out-of-bounds read in a macOS component can be triggered by processing a maliciously crafted file. The flaw can disclose process memory to an attacker.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers -productVersion` and compare against the fixed versions below
- unknown

## Fix

- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2` or later
- Update macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2` or later
- Update macOS to `27.2` (Golden Gate) or later

## Timeline

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. Processing a maliciously crafted file may disclose process memory.
