# macOS: authentication state flaw lets a remote attacker run code

An authentication state-management flaw in macOS allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code on affected Macs. Apple fixed it in macOS Golden Gate 27.2.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed macOS version under Apple menu > About This Mac, or run `sw_vers -productVersion` in a terminal.
- Compare the result against `27.2`; anything earlier is unpatched for this issue.

## Fix

- Update macOS to `27.2` or later via System Settings > General > Software Update.

## Timeline

## From the sources

An authentication issue was addressed with improved state management. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27.2. A remote attacker may be able to cause arbitrary code execution.
