# Wazuh: active-response config overflow in wazuh-execd corrupts root memory

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-112334 (this .md is for agents)

Wazuh before 4.14.9 has an out-of-bounds write in wazuh-execd: more than 64 active-response commands in ossec.conf overflow an array in ReadExecConfig(). An attacker who already controls the manager configuration can corrupt root process memory and crash Active Response across the fleet.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Wazuh manager version: `/var/ossec/bin/wazuh-control info` or the installed package version
- Review `ossec.conf` active-response blocks for an unusually large number of command entries
- Check the Wazuh release notes linked from the advisory for the list of affected builds

## Fix

- Wazuh: move to `4.14.9` or later

## From the sources

Wazuh from 1.0.0 before 4.14.9 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in wazuh-execd that allows privileged manager-configuration attackers to corrupt root process memory via excess ar.conf entries. Attackers controlling ossec.conf active-response blocks can push over 64 commands to agents, overflowing ReadExecConfig() arrays and crashing Active Response fleet-wide.
