# grandnode2: Excel product import allows path traversal via picture fields

GrandNode2 up to 2.3.0 has a path traversal flaw in the Excel product import, where the Picture1, Picture2 and Picture3 values are not sanitized. A remote attacker can use crafted picture paths to reach files outside the intended directory.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed GrandNode2 version against `2.3.0` and older
- Confirm whether the Excel product import feature is used or reachable on the instance

## Fix

- Upgrade GrandNode2 to `2.4.0` or later (patch commit 2abbaed232080ad74949c6f35581f0351e309972)

## Timeline

## From the sources

A security vulnerability has been detected in grandnode grandnode2 up to 2.3.0. This impacts the function ProductImportDataObject.PrepareProductPictures of the component Excel Import. The manipulation of the argument Picture1/Picture2/Picture3 leads to path traversal. The attack can be initiated remotely. Upgrading to version 2.4.0 will fix this issue. The identifier of the patch is 2abbaed232080ad74949c6f35581f0351e309972. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure.
