# Events-Management-System: SQL injection in doedit.php lets remote users query the database

The Events-Management-System project by satya-vinay has a SQL injection flaw in the registration edit handler (doedit.php), where the id, name, title, year, gender, fromdate, todate and people arguments reach mysqli_query unescaped. A remote attacker can read or change database contents, and the exploit has been publicly disclosed.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether your deployment runs satya-vinay Events-Management-System and whether doedit.php is present in its web root
- Review the commit in use; the sources say versions are not given and the project is rolling release, so the exact affected commit is unknown

## Fix

- No fixed version is published; the project has not responded to the report
- Until a patch exists, restrict access to doedit.php at the web server or block it, and use parameterized queries if you maintain a fork

## Timeline

## From the sources

A vulnerability was determined in satya-vinay Events-Management-System up to 437c77ceb69bf9fe2e3f4f46f7871b83f425383a. Affected is the function mysqli_query of the file doedit.php of the component Registration-Edit Handler. This manipulation of the argument id/name/title/year/gender/fromdate/todate/people causes sql injection. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. This product follows a rolling release approach for continuous delivery, so version details for affected or updated releases are not provided. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
