# TeamViewer clients: integer overflow in screen processing lets remote host run code

TeamViewer clients before 15.83 contain an integer overflow in the remote-control screen processing component. A malicious or compromised remote host can cause a denial of service or, depending on the platform, run arbitrary code with the viewer process's privileges.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open TeamViewer on each workstation and check the version under Help, About TeamViewer, or run the installed client's version query if the sources give one
- Note whether the install is Full Client, Portable or Remote Control App, since all three are named as affected

## Fix

- Update TeamViewer Full Client, Portable and Remote Control App to `15.83` or later
- Until patched, avoid starting remote-control sessions to hosts you do not fully trust

## Timeline

- 2026-10-27T16:33:07+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-111585

## From the sources

An integer overflow in the remote-control
screen processing component of TeamViewer clients (Full Client, Portable and Remote
Control App) prior to version 15.83 may allow a malicious remote host to cause
a denial of service or, depending on the platform, potentially execute
arbitrary code with the privileges of the viewer process. Exploitation requires
a user to establish a remote-control session to an attacker-controlled or
compromised host.
