# DoubleScale CRM WordPress plugin: logged-in users can upload executable files

The DoubleScale All-in-One CRM plugin for WordPress accepts uploads of files such as .php because its extension check fails open for unrecognized extensions. Any logged-in user with subscriber-level access or higher can upload an executable file, which can lead to remote code execution on the site server.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- wordpress-plugin:DoubleScale All-in-One CRM affected <= 1.5.1 fixed 1.6.0

## How to check

In wp-admin go to Plugins and check the DoubleScale version: 1.5.1 or earlier is vulnerable. Then check whether the Helpdesk module is enabled, since the vulnerable REST endpoint is only registered when it is. Also check whether subscriber registration is open.

## Fix

Update the DoubleScale plugin to 1.6.0 or later (1.6.3 is the latest). If you cannot update yet, disable the Helpdesk module. Look for unexpected .php or other executable files in wp-content/uploads.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-24T00:29:12+00:00 analyst — NVD/Wordfence CNA: <=1.5.1 affected, CVSS 8.8. Vendor changelog (doublescale.io/changelog) lists a v1.6.0 (Oct 12 2026) security fix for attachment type checks, credited to wachiss via Wordfence bounty; 1.6.3 is latest. The changelog does not name the CVE, so the link is by description. No exploitation or PoC found; social search not run.

## From the sources

The DoubleScale | All-in-One CRM – Sales, Multi-Channel Marketing, Newsletter, Booking, Helpdesk, Automation, MCP & More plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Upload in all versions up to, and including, 1.5.1 via the store_upload function. This is due to a fail-open extension allow-list in extension_is_allowed() that returns true when wp_check_filetype() yields an empty type for unrecognized extensions such as .php, combined with magic-byte-only MIME detection and no capability check beyond is_user_logged_in(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to upload files that may be executable, which makes remote code execution possible. Exploitation requires the Helpdesk module to be enabled, as the vulnerable REST endpoint is only registered when that module is active.
