# Płatnik software: weak password encoding lets a user decode passwords

Płatnik software uses a weak algorithm to encode stored passwords, so anyone who obtains an encoded password can decode it easily. An attacker with access to that encoded value can recover the plain password.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Identify the installed Płatnik software version and compare it with `10.02.002`
- Check whether the installed build includes metric 242 (unknown how to read this from the installation)

## Fix

- Move Płatnik software to version `10.02.002` or later, which the sources say fixes this issue (metric 242)

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T12:30:22+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-110971

## From the sources

Use of a weak password encoding algorithm in Płatnik software allows a user who obtains encoded password to easily decode it.

This issue was fixed in metric 242 in version 10.02.002.
