# MxChat WordPress plugin: stored XSS via feedback parameter, up to 3.2.25

The MxChat AI Chatbot WordPress plugin fails to sanitize the 'feedback' parameter, so unauthenticated visitors can store scripts that run in the browser of anyone who views the affected page. The description says an administrator loading the Transcripts page triggers the payload, which can let an attacker act with that admin's session.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the MxChat plugin in the WordPress admin plugin list; versions `3.2.25` and earlier are described as vulnerable.
- Look for the MxChat Transcripts admin page and confirm whether it is reachable by administrators on the site.

## Fix

- Update the MxChat plugin to a version later than `3.2.25`; the sources do not name the exact fixed release, so check the plugin's changelog.
- Until updated, restrict or disable public access to the feedback endpoint, if the plugin allows it.

## Timeline

## From the sources

The MxChat – AI Chatbot & Content Generation for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via the 'feedback' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.2.25 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The stored payload is written by any unauthenticated visitor via a single POST to admin-ajax.php and detonates automatically when any administrator next loads the Transcripts page.
