# WordPress SVG upload plugin lets authors store script via animated links

The Enable SVG, WebP, and ICO Upload WordPress plugin before 1.1.6 fails to block SVG animation elements that switch a link to a javascript: URI. An author-level user can upload a crafted SVG to bypass sanitization and store cross-site scripting that runs in WebKit browsers such as Safari.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed plugin version for "Enable SVG, WebP, and ICO Upload" in the WordPress admin under Plugins; it is affected below `1.1.6`.
- Review whether any users with the Author role or above can upload media.

## Fix

- Enable SVG, WebP, and ICO Upload: `1.1.6`

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T06:53:13+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-110505

## From the sources

The Enable SVG, WebP, and ICO Upload WordPress plugin before 1.1.6 does not prevent animation elements in uploaded SVG files from changing a link's target to a javascript: URI, which could allow users with the author role and above to bypass its SVG sanitization and perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks that execute in WebKit-based browsers such as Safari.
