# Langflow: improper authentication lets remote attackers obtain sensitive information

IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 fail to properly check authentication. A remote attacker can obtain sensitive information from an affected instance.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- pypi:langflow affected >= 1.0.0, <= 1.12.4 fixed 1.12.5

## How to check

Run pip show langflow (or check the version in the UI). Versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 are affected; 1.12.5 or later is fixed. Unauthenticated, so any instance reachable over the network is exposed.

## Fix

Upgrade Langflow OSS to 1.12.5 or later (IBM bulletin 7293016). Back up first and follow IBM's upgrade instructions.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T16:30:38+00:00 analyst — IBM bulletin 7293016 (Oct 19) lists it: CWE-287, CVSS 7.5 PR:N, confidentiality only, affected 1.0.0-1.12.4, fix 1.12.5. IBM names no endpoint or data exposed; no workaround for this CVE (MCP stdio settings relate to other CVEs). No exploitation or PoC found; social search skipped.

## From the sources

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information due to improper authentication.
