# Langflow: low-privilege user can run code on the server

IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 let a logged-in user with a low-privilege account bypass the administrator-only restriction on a built-in code-execution component. An attacker who can configure such a component with crafted inputs can execute arbitrary code on the server running Langflow.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Langflow version with `langflow --version` or the version shown in the running instance.
- Confirm whether the instance is reachable from users outside the trusted team, since accounts are needed to exploit it.

## Fix

- Move to a Langflow version later than `1.12.4`; the exact fixed release is unknown from the sources.

## Timeline

## From the sources

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.12.4 could allow a remote attacker with a low-privileged authenticated account to bypass the administrator-only restriction and execute arbitrary code on the server by configuring a built-in code-execution component with attacker-supplied inputs.
