# FV Flowplayer WordPress plugin: stored XSS via comment parameter

The FV Flowplayer Video Player WordPress plugin does not sanitize the 'comment' parameter, so an unauthenticated visitor can submit a comment with a malicious shortcode that stores script on the site. When an administrator approves that comment and a visitor interacts with the video player on that page, the script runs in the visitor's browser.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin in the WordPress admin Plugins screen; versions up to and including `7.5.55.7212` are listed as affected.
- Check whether the 'Parse Vimeo and YouTube links' option is enabled in the plugin settings.
- Review pending and approved comments for embedded shortcodes or script content.

## Fix

- FV Flowplayer Video Player: unknown (the sources name the affected range up to and including `7.5.55.7212` but do not state a fixed version).

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T18:55:28+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-109984

## From the sources

The FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.5.55.7212 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires the 'Parse Vimeo and YouTube links' option to be enabled and a site administrator to approve the comment containing the malicious shortcode; execution is then triggered for any visitor who interacts with the video player on that page.
