# WordPress MB Custom Post Types plugin: any logged-in user can wipe configuration

The MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies WordPress plugin before 2.12.2 lacks a capability check and nonce validation on its migration actions. Any authenticated user, including a subscriber, can trigger a one-way migration that creates published records and permanently deletes the plugin's post-type and taxonomy configuration.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed plugin version in the WordPress admin Plugins screen or with `wp plugin get mb-custom-post-types --field=version` (slug assumed; confirm it matches the plugin).
- Review which accounts exist on the site; any subscriber-level account can reach the flaw.

## Fix

- Update the MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies plugin to `2.12.2` or later.
- Until updated, restrict or remove unneeded subscriber and contributor accounts.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:12+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-109982

## From the sources

The MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies WordPress plugin before 2.12.2 does not perform a capability check or validate a nonce on its migration actions, allowing any authenticated user, such as a subscriber, to trigger a one-way migration that creates published records and permanently deletes a companion MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies WordPress plugin before 2.12.2's entire post-type and taxonomy configuration.
